Just a quick update on the plastic bag ban story I posted Friday: Public Works director Matt Naclerio has confirmed that city staff has removed the item from the agenda for tonight, which means that “by default, the city is opting in to the ordinance,”  he says.

The reason? After talking to StopWaste folks last Friday, Naclerio and City Manager John Russo decided that the city and StopWaste could do enough outreach over the next few months to satisfy the Sunshine Ordinance.

So if you were planning on giving city staff an earful about your thoughts on plastic — either by email or in person tonight — you can hold off.

Or you could send them a thank you note instead.
